ATWATER VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL YEARLY BUDGET SLASHED IN HALF BY THE CITY BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

The Atwater Village Neighborhood Council (AVNC) yearly $45,000 budget for 2010-2011 will be slashed in half to just $22,500. In addition, rollover funds from the previous fiscal years will be abolished.

The L.A City Council Budget and Finance Committee voted 3-2 to sweep all rollover funds and slash yearly funding to $22,500 for all Neighborhood Councils. L.A. City Councilmembers Rosendahl and Koretz voted NO to the proposal while Councilmembers Parks, Huizar and Smith voted YES. The proposal still requires City Council approval.

Atwater Village currently depends on AVNC funds for many, if not all, of its’ community events and beautification projects. Without AVNC funding events like Trick-or-Treat on the BOOlevard, Tree Lighting Ceremony, Movie Nights and others would simply not be possible.

Please contact Council President Eric Garcetti (CD13) and Councilmember Tom Labonge (CD4) and let them know how important AVNC funding is to Atwater Village!
