What's next for Sandusky

As you are most likely aware, Jerry Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of 48 charges related to child molestation, rape and sexual abuse.  The saga is, sadly, not over, and despite the guilty verdict, we will likely be hearing about the case for some time.  Here is what happens next.

Sandusky is currently in jail and awaiting sentencing, which will likely come at some point in the next ninety days.  He faces a minimum of 60 years in prison and a maximum of 442 years in prison; either way, barring an appeal, the 68 year old Sandusky will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Speaking of an appeal, Sandusky's legal team has vowed to appeal the verdict; apparently, the crux of one of those appeals is an interview with Bob Costas that was shown during the trial.  Defense attorneys allege that an errand version of that interview was shown to the jury that did not give jurors a fair view of the interview or Sandusky.  Defense attorneys also tried to withdraw as Sandusky's council, arguing that they were unprepared to litigate the case because of the speed at which it went to trial; this will also likely form a basis for an appeal.

That being said, the charges are possibly not over for Sandusky; he could face new charges related to his alleged abuse of his stepson and others that did not take place in Pennsylvania.  Meanwhile, in jail, Sandusky has been placed on suicide watch, though the move does not necessarily indicate that Sandusky is at risk to attempt suicide.
