MAJOR SEWER REPAIR ON FLETCHER DRIVE EXPECTED TO CREATE HAVOC FOR COMMUTERS AND ATWATER VILLAGE LOCALS

Starting August 9th, 2010 the City of Los Angeles (thru Blois Construction, Inc) will begin work on replacing a sewer line on Fletcher Dr and Atwater Ave, in Atwater Village. The project is expected to last 2 months.

The work will start at the Fletcher Dr / Atwater Ave traffic intersection and advance north bound on Atwater Ave towards Minneapolis St. The work would close both west bound traffic lanes on Fletcher Dr and all of Atwater Ave between Fletcher Dr and Minneapolis St.

Fletcher Dr is a major fare-thru for commuters and local traffic. The closure of Fletcher Dr’s west bound traffic lanes would most likely exacerbate traffic congestion during peak commuter driving hours. This would cause traffic “spillover” into Atwater Village residential streets as commuters try to bypass a congested Fletcher Dr.
