Daily Briefing, 6/1/2012

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

In local news, George Hitcho is appealing his guilty verdict and death sentence in the murder of police officer Robert Lasso.  In national news, John Edwards was found not guilty on one count of campaign finance violations and a mistrial was declared on the other five counts.  A federal judge in Boston found the federal Defense of Marriage Act to be unconstitutional.  New York City has proposed a ban on the sale of oversized sodas and other related sugar-laden drinks.  The May unemployment numbers will be released this morning, with the unemployment rate expected to remain stuck at 8.1% and 158,000 jobs added.
