For the 11th straight month, Lehigh Valley home sales increased. Saucon Valley School District approved a budget that did not raise taxes. Glenn Eckhart, Lehigh County controller, argued his eligibility to serve as Controller in Court yesterday. A new study shows that the Lehigh Valley generates $208 million annually from arts and culture related activities. The Easton Area Chamber of Commerce will honor six businesses later tonight. Speaking of Easton, the city is looking to enact a new tax on commuters as soon as this July. In state-wide news, Governor Corbett has proposed a $27.4 budget that roughly splits the difference between the Governor's proposed budget and the one approved by the State Senate. In international news, Spain has found its bond status downgraded.
We have a busy day in Chamber world today, with three events: our Easton Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual dinner, we have a Grand Opening at the new Dan's Camera City in Nazareth and the Southern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce is hosting a benefit for the Southern Lehigh Public Library.
