A Morning Call report notes that expansion within the Allentown NIZ continues despite the various legal issues surrounding the zone. Allentown City Council voted yesterday to fire a police officer who was accused of theft from Coca Coal Park. East Stroudsburg University will soon be offering courses in Bethlehem. DayTimers will be closing its Lower Macungie plant, costing the area 300 jobs. Residents of Lower Macungie are now suing to stop a Jaindl development project in the Spring Creek section of the township.
In state-wide news, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives approved new regulations that will allow for payday lending. A new poll shows Barack Obama with a 48-36 lead over Mitt Romney.
In national news, the stock market posted its biggest gain of 2012 yesterday.
Today is a big day in Chamber world, with two events: our Women's Summit, featuring Gloria Steinem, and a Social Media breakfast in Allentown, featuring Mayor Ed Pawlowski.
