These cancelled power plants are part of a sordid list of actions by this government, so broad that it is breathtaking.
This is not to say all of the debacles were politically motivated, but at their best they speak of abysmal management and/or outright incompetence. Terms such as eHealth, Ornge, horse racing and diluted cancer drugs sadly have become part of our language. And there are many others.
Besides the stupidity, dishonesty and poor management, a darker cloud hangs over all of these messes for rural Ontario. And that’s the fact rural residents who do not want power plants in the form of huge wind-turbine factories have no voice in the province.
Mississauga speaks and the Liberals jump so far they land in a cesspool of partisan muck. Rural Ontario speaks and the same politicians yawn. That means giant turbines are still being erected where they aren’t wanted, to feed power that isn’t needed into a system that isn’t sustainable.
