Greetings Chamber Members,

As Atwater Village welcomes in the fall season I would like to update you about some happenings in our Village.

CHAMBER FALL MIXER

The Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Fall Mixer this Wednesday, October 28th, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, at 55 Degree Wine located at 3111 Glendale Blvd. This will be the opportune time for all Chamber members to network, socialize, and above all, have a relaxing evening drinking wine among friends. We will also have speakers there to discuss advertizing opportunities for the winter holidays.

FALL FESTIVAL: TRICK-OR-TREAT ON THE BOOLEVARD

The Atwater Village Neighborhood Council (AVNC) will be hosting a Fall Festival on Friday, October 30th, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm all along Glendale Blvd., Atwater’s “Main Street”. The propose of this event is to give local elementary school children a safe “Trick-or-Treat” environment and bring their parents to Glendale Blvd so they may familiarize themselves with local businesses. Participation in this event is simple…. just hand out the candy provided by the AVNC to the children, promote your business to the adults and have fun!

CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP DUES – 2010

The Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce invites you to renew your membership.

Incorporated in 1947 this chamber is one of the oldest and most enduring community groups in Atwater Village. As a volunteer operated organization, we utilize your nominal membership dues to carry out its many business and community promoting events.

The Chamber is currently in the process of aligning all membership renewals to our fiscal year starting in January. For those members that joined during 2009 we will be pro-rating your dues to align your membership with our fiscal year.

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY – 2009

On sad note, the Atwater Village Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony may not occur this year.

Like many other local non-profit groups, the Chamber is not invulnerable to a loss of volunteers and contributions during difficult economic times. Sadly, 2009 has been an exceptionally difficult year for many of our small business members, especially those who volunteer their time and monies to put together the yearly Tree Lighting event.

The Chamber is making an all-purpose call to the community for assistance; it takes a village and we need help to make the Tree Lighting Ceremony happen this year.

How can you help?

We need professional decorators (or at least a small group of talented individuals) to work with the City (Bureau of Street Services) to install the tree decorations and lights. This very important job consists of:
• Taking inventory of lights and decorations currently in storage, cleaning decorations and making sure lights are in operating order.
• Preparing a design plan for the tree
• On the date and time to be determined by the City, deliver decorations / lights to the Tree (redwood tree on median in front of Acapulco).
• Help direct City Workers in decorating the tree.
