*ATTENTION* ATWATER VILLAGE RESIDENTS, RECENTLY THERE HAVE BEEN AN INCREASE OF RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES IN THE AREA.
These burglaries have been occurring during the day time hours from 8 am to 4pm except for one burglary that occurred during the early hours of mid-night while the residents were sleeping and were alerted by the dog barking towards the living room. At this time Burglary Detectives do not believe these incidents are related.
In one burglary suspects were observed by a witness, knocking on the front door. When no one answered suspects went to the rear and cut the window screen and entered via the open window. Suspects were described one male and two females. The male was described as Hispanic, 505-508 ft, 130-140 lbs, 18-19 years old. One of the females was described Hispanic, 501-102 ft, 105-110 lbs, 16-18 years old, the other was Hispanic, 504-505 ft, 160 lbs, 25-30 years of age.
In another burglary a Senior Citizen was distracted while suspects entered the front door and removed property. One of the suspects is described as male Hispanic, black hair, bro eyes, 508 ft, 155 lbs, 18-25 years of age. Suspect number two was not observed.
These burglaries occurred in the areas of 2900 and 3100 block of Los Feliz, 3300 block Madera, 3100 block Atwater Ave, 3100 block Garden ave and 3700 block of Brunswick Ave.
Reminder to keep all windows and doors locked, install senor lights, surveillance cameras and assure cameras are in working order, cut down on shrubbery, start local neighborhood watches, and know your neighbors, start a phone tree or email tree. Report any suspicious activity to the police department.
Many items taken have been check books, mail, and computers. Keep all personal information on back of disk or Flash Rams.
