At a Chamber event yesterday, County Executive Don Cunningham delivered his State of the County address. Developer Abe Atiyeh is suing over the arena construction. The Allentown NIZ zone will collect $550,000 in local taxes. Bethlehem City Council was unable to select a new controller yesterday, as Council deadlocked on the vote.
In state-wide news, the primary ballot is now set. Chances of a sale of the state's liquor stores took a blow yesterday, when two top State Senators said they would seek to make the existing system more competitive. Same-sex marriage legislation was approved yesterday in New Jersey; Governor Christy is expected to veto it.
In national news, bad news: oil prices have rose 12% in six weeks. There was, however, good news to counter it: jobs and manufacturing data both made improvements.
