The Atwater Village Neighborhood Council (AVNC) will vote on whether or not to reconsider previously approved spending decisions at their upcoming April 12th board meeting.
The AVNC Board has been asked by one of their own, Rueben Martinez, to reconsider funding approvals made just last month. In an email to the AVNC Board Martinez expressed his concerns on whether they made a mistake in approving $6,000 in funding for a street festival and a playhouse over more essential community needs.
Martinez went on to request that the Board vote on revoking the $6,000 approvals and reallocate those funds to their “educational budget”. He also expressed his belief that those funds would be better spent at Atwater’s local schools; both are facing a significant budget shortfall this year.
A simple majority vote is needed to revoke past Board actions.
