The Tax Foundation released its latest data on state and local property tax collections per capita. New Jersey is the highest-taxed state at $2,819 per capita. Alabama comes in the lowest at $539. Indiana falls in the middle at $1,182, which is slightly higher than Ohio's $1,130 and much lower than Illinois' $1,877 and slightly lower than Michigan's $1,453. Kentucky's property tax collections are only $684 per capita. The data is a little dated since it is based on the 2010 fiscal year. Any source
