The municipality is conducting an internal investigation into the siting of eight wind turbines near the Chatham-Kent airport, but an investigation independent of the municipality needs to be conducted...The entire article can be read at the Chatham Daily News---... it's interesting to note that MPP Rick Nicholls raised an alarm about the eight turbines' location. Nicholls said his chief concern was that the turbines could render the airport useless, discouraging potential companies with company plans to avoid Chatham-Kent.
It's easy to accuse Nicholls of playing politics, but in this case he appears to be vindicated. What's interesting is that Mayor Randy Hope couldn't resist the bait and is on record suggesting the MPP would have to "eat crow" when a report showed no safety concerns.
Hope has since said little about the issue.
