It’s days like today when i realise how jaded about politics I am because my first thought on hearing about the resignation was how soon will Leighton Andrews be back in the Cabinet.
So while Leighton and I ponder that, there is a vacant Education Ministerial post to fill and it's hard to see an obvious successor because the choices are so limited.
I’ve ruled out Mick Antoniw because he's been on the same Health protest as Leighton otherwise he’d be a decent option.
Maybe Carwyn Jones will appoint a backbencher like Vaughan Gethin he’s very loyal and a good attack dog or maybe give a deputy Minister a promotion but Jeff Cuthbert and Gwenda Thomas are hardly inspiring choices, after that i'm almost out of ideas and it will be interesting to see how big the reshuffle is and how confident Carwyn is feeling.
The full story of today’s resignation is HERE, HERE and HERE (it’s not the first forced as BBC Wales claim because Christine Gwyther was forced to resign way back in 1999).
And finally hats off to the media and opposition who have played a part in securing a major political scalp, they've made welsh politics interesting for at least 24 hours.
UPDATE the answer is Huw Lewis, the former Communities & Tackling Poverty Minister.
