Uzbekistan, EU discuss cooperation

Uzbekistan and the European Union discussed current and future cooperation, including that between legislative authorities, the republic's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Negotiations were held within the meeting between the Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and the delegation of the European Parliament on relations with Central Asia and Mongolia led by Paolo Bortolotti that took place on Wednesday.

The group of European deputies arrived in the country to participate in the 10th session of the Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Committee.

During the meeting, it was stressed that multifaceted cooperation in the Uzbekistan-EU format have significant potential. Both parties are interested in its implementation through the further deepening and expansion of bilateral relations in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

The parties reviewed the implementation process of the EU's Central Asia Strategy, as well as had exchange of views on some international and regional problems.
