CRA/LA GETS A 2.25 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT TO “SIGNIFICANTLY ENHANCE” THEIR REDEVELOPMENT AND EMINENT DOMAIN ABILITIES FOR PROPOSED NELA REDEVELOPMENT AREA.

The Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles (CRA/LA) has won a 2.25 million dollars Housing & Urban Development (HUD) grant. According to the grant application the 2.25 million dollars will help fund CRA/LA effort, together with the Departments of Planning and Transportation, to modify the NELA Community Plan. The ensuing Community Plan change is expected to “significantly enhance” CRA/LA’s redevelopment and eminent domain abilities once the proposed NELA River Redevelopment Project Area is adopted.

CRA/LA is already using 1 million dollars Tax Increment funds from the East Hollywood / Beverly – Normandie (EHBN) area to subsidize their efforts to declare sections of Atwater Village and Northeast Los Angeles (NELA) “blighted”.
