Daily Briefing, 3/1/2012

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network has changed its name to St. Luke's University Health Network.  In Allentown, a hotel and multi-story office building have been added to the arena site.  Foreclosures in the Valley fell in 2011.  GenOn in Portland will close by 2015 as a result of environmental regulations.  UGI says that natural gas prices will decline this year.

In state-wide news, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ordered that Speaker Sam Smith hold special elections for six currently vacant House seats.

In national news, Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, said yesterday that he believes America is heading for a "massive financial cliff" as a result of tax cuts that are set to expire and spending cuts.

We have one Chamber event today: a Grand Opening at the Advanced Wellness Center in Bethlehem.
