Daily Briefing, 5/18/2012

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

Catasauqua and Upper Saucon Township have become the latest municipalities to file a lawsuit against the Allentown Arena project.  Also in Allentown, School District taxes will rise 4.8%.  It took a jury a mere 35 minutes yesterday to find George Hitcho Jr. guilty of first degree murder for killing Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso.  Northampton County Council approved of a special tax zone, known as a LERTA, in Easton yesterday.

In national news, Facebook officially goes public today with a price of $38 per share.  President Obama is likely to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as tougher sanctions on Iran take hold.

We have two Chamber events today: the 90th annual Hellertown Lower Saucon Chamber Banquet and an SBC event on Masterminds.
