Out & About NYC Part 2

The very pretty NY Public Library.

A must try. Its like street food really, Papaya Dog. A bit like A&W's version except the chilli (actually no chilli but mince and beans with a bit of spice) and melted cheese somehow makes it pretty good. Had 3 of these this trip.

Possibly the best second hand store for DVDs, CDs ... can spend hours here.

Can I bitch about NY Chinatown, its pathetic. The town never develops. The same shitty food you serve foreigners, absolutely reprehensible. Go and experience Chinatowns in Sydney and Melbourne and you can see how well accepted Asian food is, plus the quality ranks right up there with the best you can get in Thailand, Bangkok or Jakarta. NY Chinatown is a testament that it remains a place for new immigrants with little or no working knowledge of English, there is no assimilation or integration. Eat the food here you want to vomit blood.

Its a bloody time capsule.

The charming Rockefeller Center.

This is a really good newish chain, Chipotle, but will fail miserably in Asia. The wrap is too close to chapati and the condiments are too bland for Asian tastes, but as far as Mexican food goes, its pretty good.

Another great newish chain but will suffer same fate as Chipotle if someone tries to bring this to Asia. We are not so keen on bread and cold cuts, but as a great sandwich place with wonderful bread, Panera is pretty good.

Now, somebody should really bring Red lobster to Asia. Its pretty decent and fun.

Resorts World making claims in NYC. Its a fair distance away from NYC. No, I did not go there.
