ATWATER VILLAGE, CA (October 19, 2010)—Ensemble Studio Theatre-Los Angeles (EST-LA) is proud to present fESTivityLA 2010, a festival of new play readings by some of today’s most exciting playwrights. This annual festival, formerly known as WINTERFEST, will be presented at the company’s new home at Atwater Village Theatre, 3269 Casitas Avenue beginning Thursday, November 4th and running through Sunday, November 14th. Don’t miss this opportunity to see tomorrow’s great play, today. This year’s line-up features more than 20 new works by playwrights of local, national and international renown, including Reginald Edmund, Wendy Graf, Neil LaBute, Jennifer Maisel, Jacqueline Wright and many others. EST-LA is one of LA’s premiere developmental and producing theatres, and the West Coast branch of the famed New York company that launched some of the most influential voices in the American Theatre, including Christopher Durang, Richard Greenberg, David Mamet, Marsha Norman, Jose Rivera, John Patrick Shanley and Wendy Wasserstein. The esteemed company includes winners of the Academy, Emmy, Golden Globe, Obie and Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Recent productions include Love Water by Jacqueline Wright at the Open Fist Theatre and the critically-acclaimed Tree by Julie Hebert at [Inside] the Ford. EST-LA’s production of Tree earned three NAACP nominations. In addition, the play received the gold standard of literary recognition when it was awarded the 2010 PEN USA Drama Award for Excellence.
