Food Forward LA, Southern California's largest harvesting-for-the-hungry non-profit, is looking for fruit trees in Atwater Village to help feed the hungry.
If you have a MATURE healthy, easy to access fruit tree that produces a minimum of 200-300 pieces of fruit, which you do not use and are willing to donate, they’d love to hear from you.
Food Forward will harvest your citrus (except for lemons), apples, figs, pomegranates, etc - and they will bring all the tools needed, and a willing appropriate-sized corps of volunteers to your home to do the harvesting, leaving your yard as clean as they found it.
They are fully insured and also ensure that 100% of the fruit reaches one of the nearly 30 agencies they service across the Southland that feeds our community's most vulnerable. They can do a single tree or entire orchards – they scale their operation to suit the property, and your name is never divulged to anyone, even their volunteers. A few weeks following the event, you will receive a tax receipt for every pound that is harvest - and the good feeling that your fruit is going to those in need.
You can most easily sign up your property at their website (click here) but those without computer access should call the fruitline at 818-530-4125 (please allow 48-72 hours for a response) to leave a message.
Please email Julie@foodforward.org for further info or visit our website at foodforward.org to learn more about our program. Thanks for being a FRUITANTHROPIST!

Food Forward has harvested at a couple homes in Atwater Village over the past two years, but is looking for more! When they harvest in Atwater, the fruit usually goes to PATH or the Downtown Women's Center, but they are looking for more local agencies that would be willing to pick up the fruit after its harvested.
