Lake Superior Action Research Conservation (LSARC) sees the scientific method as one of man's great achievements. The unbiased formulation and testing of hypotheses is the firm foundation upon which progress can be made. Unfortunately more and more we see society backsliding into a morass of pseudo-science.
"Science Under Assault", an excellent presentation by physicist John Droz states that the scientific process is an assessment that is:Instead of framing testable problems, "falsifiable" statements which can be verified and proven right or wrong, pseudo-science relies largely on biased assumptions and cherry-picked references.
- Comprehensive,
- Independent, in the sense of impartial, objective, non-partisan and value-free
- Transparent,
- Empirical, technical, all data available, economic & objective real world environmental data - using these four criteria it will be very apparent whether you’re dealing with science or snake oil - Wind energy (for example) has never been subjected to the scientific process.
