“Area residents and municipalities should not be fooled,” Pettapiece said, pointing to the Liberals’ long-established practice of forcing projects into communities where they are not wanted.
Instead of taking direct responsibility, the Liberal government is asking two provincial energy agencies – the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) and the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) – to come up with a new process to site energy projects.
“By calling for a new process, the Liberals have, in effect, finally admitted that their current process is broken,” Pettapiece said. “Yet they still refuse to stop projects already in the pipeline from moving through what they know is a flawed process.”
One of those projects is the Conestogo Wind Energy Project planned for North Perth.
