BILLBOARD COMPANY SEEKS TO KILL TREES FOR BETTER VIEW

Re-post from Atwater Village Nextdoor, Linda Hackett:

"Clear Channel is scheduled to remove 2 mature, healthy sycamores from the park on Los Feliz Blvd. (just east of the river) so that their billboard above will be better seen. The trees are the two closest to the billboard and are blocking it’s view.

I am outraged by the cutting down of trees to provide a better view of an obnoxious billboard, so I am starting a petition to try to stop them. I hope you will join me in signing!

The two trees in question have signs posted on them that they are scheduled to be removed.

If you believe in preserving the beauty and environment of Atwater village, I strongly urge you to both sign the petition AND contact both Laura Bauernfeild at the Dept of Park & Rec and Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, (our councilman) at the numbers below to voice your opposition to Clear Channel’s planned action.

Laura Bauernfeind (LA Dept of Park & Rec): 213-485-3674

Mitch O’Farrell (Councilman District 13): 323-957-4500

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE - there’s only a couple days left before the trees come down unless we act NOW. I will also try to bring this issue up at the Atwater Villge Council Mtg Thursday. The petition will be available at “A Runner’s Circle,” (the running store at the east end of the park) for the next couple days. Please come sign the petition by Friday morning. The petition will be available while the store is open during business hours."
