KOGI STATE POLY RE-OPENS




Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, which was shut down about three months ago over students’ unrest which led to the killing of one of the lecturers, Mr Nathaniel Abimaje, a senior lecturer in the school of management studies has been re-opened for academic activities.
While disclosing this in Lokoja, the rector of the polytechnic, Professor Matthew Ajibero stated that the students are starting their examination soonest.
On the 19th of April 2013, the Kogi state polytechnic was shut down by its management because of ethnic crises which erupted between the Ibira and the Igala and led to the death of a senior lecturer while trying to keep peace.

The school management has re-opened the institution asking the students to pay the sum of N5,000 with a letter of undertaking from their parents.

The rector of the polytechnic; professor Matthew Ajibero stated that the committee set up by the school council which comprised the polytechnic and council committee, the police and the DSS, all submitted their reports to the school council, adding that the council has gone through the report and has taken a decision which they have finally passed to the state government.

On the death of the lecturer, Late Nathaniel Abimaje who was killed during the crisis,Professor Ajibero said they are working hard to identify those that perpetrated the act
