Police Kill Man's Dog While Making An Unlawful Arrest
This video footage is hard to watch. A man out walking his dog in Hawthorne, California stops and films police from a public sidewalk. As the man puts his dog in the backseat of his car and begins to leave the scene, police approach him to arrest him for supposedly obstructing justice, which the man is clearly not doing. As the police handcuff the man, his dog becomes agitated and jumps out the back window of the car to come to the aid of his owner. A police officer shoots the dog multiple times in a heartbreaking scene to the horror of a gathered crowd of onlookers. The police officer no doubt felt threatened by the dog and reasonably believed that force was necessary to protect himself from the dog. One could also ask why a taser instead of a gun was not used on the dog. Yet this situation would have never arisen in the first place if the police had not been engaged in what is clearly an unlawful arrest of this man. You can bet a lawsuit will be filed against the Hawthorne police department.Any source
