Winter preparation at 90 percent completion

The regular meeting of officials of the Ulaanbaatar City Administration took place on September 23 and updated information on winter preparation was presented. Nationwide, winter preparation rate is at 90 percent completion, but heating distribution hasn’t been supplied to 5 schools, 12 kindergartens, and 4 hospitals because of below standard buildings of them in Ulaanbaatar.

According to the Chairman of the Ulaanbaatar Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (USUG), S.Unen, Ulaanbaatar water supply for the past two weeks was fine, while sewage quantities increased significantly starting September 17, which caused an overload at sewage treatment plants which was resolved successfully.

Ch.Byambajav, chief of the Apartment and Public Entities Managing Agency, reported that incomplete heating distribution projects at the Third Thermal Power Plant (TPP3) are currently being done with state funding. Five new furnaces at the Second Thermal Power Plant will be launched soon and used this winter. The state plans to follow pressure temperature standards at TPP3, and end heating line upgrade projects by September 25.

Ulaanbaatar City Mayor E.Bat-Uul urged the authorities to speed up preparations.
