‘IT’S A COINCIDENCE I DONT COPY FLAVOUR’ - WIZBOY

Wizboy

Ofuasia isioma aka wizboy is one of the few contemporary highlife musicians in Nigeria, the Delta state born musician who just got verified on twitter talks about rumours going round he copies flavours type of contemporary highlife style and the reason why he switched from rnb to highlife in a recent interview with HotFm 98.3Abuja.

‘It’s just a coincidence that we do same genre of music, I mean have had a lot of hit songs like screen saver, owusa gi these were songs that were big as far back as 2006/07, if you talk about being inspired because someone else is doing it trust me am totally out of it, i have a very strong highlife foundation and it’s been a long time coming it wasn’t inspired by anybody.

On Why He Switched From RnB
‘I have a very strong live band foundation where you have to play couple of instrument, go for wedding ceremonies, do acapella and live-band, by the time i wanted to venture into music i started with r n’b because that’s what was really in vogue then cos a lot of people felt that high-life was going extinct and it will be a waste of time trying to bring it back, at some point i said to myself i have a strong background on high-life why don’t i leverage on it instead of following the crowd cos everybody was doing rn’b at the time, and i needed to carve a nitch for myself,’ ever since high-life has been paying my bills.

On His twitter Verification:
Well it came from the blues cos i wasn’t expecting it, it was something people would fight tooth and nail to have, i just woke up one morning and found out.
‘i don’t think there’s an amount of followers that is required for one to get verified, i got a mail from twitter notifying me about it and i wasn’t keen about getting my account verified it’s all about doing what you have to do and whatever comes with it you thank God..i didn’t pay or helped to get verified
Wizboy has a seventeen track album titled ‘testimony’ which is doing very well in stores around Nigeria.
