RINOs Boot Real Republican Christine Scales Out Of Republican Caucus

Well, if you thought the Republicans on the Indianapolis City-County Council couldn't sink any lower, think again. Tonight, the Republican caucus voted to kick out of its caucus Christine Scales, an independent voice who votes more consistently with Republican principles than most of the the other tax-and-spend Republican council members, who only used an anti-tax message in the 2007 elections to topple incumbent Mayor Bart Peterson and then reverted to their real political views as soon as they got in power.

The hack minority leader, Mike McQuillen, considered her vote against Democrat Brian Mahern's motion to remove the Democratic-elected City-County Council President Maggie Lewis at the last council meeting to be the last straw. Scales joined three other Republicans in voting against Mahern's motion, including Will Gooden, Jeff Miller and Jose Evans, the Democratic councilor who was coaxed by Republicans to switch parties earlier this year. The Democrats still control the council by a 15-14 margin. The motion to expel Scales was made by Councilor Jack Sandlin and seconded by Councilor Aaron Freeman. The good 'ole boys could put up with other male members of the caucus not voting with them but had no tolerance for a woman caucus member who dared to think for herself.

This is the beginning of the death of the corrupt Marion County Republican Party. It is now officially the party of Barnes & Thornburg. Unless you are a part of the corrupt, pay-to-play club, you are not welcome in the party. Real Republicans who believe in the party's core principles are no longer welcome. The Marion County Republican Party gives no reason for real Republicans to remain involved in the party. Their actions will have statewide implications for the Indiana State Republican Party. You mark my word. As if they needed another reason for women to dislike the party.

UPDATE: I'm hearing that the caucus vote was 8-4 in favor of kicking Scales out of the caucus with two abstentions. Miller and Shreve abstained. It appears that the three others who voted to keep Scales were Pfisterer, Gooden and Evans.
