Good morning and happy Monday. In case you weren't around this weekend, here are a few of the events you missed.
On Saturday, there were Chamber events all over Lehigh Valley showcasing various business and associations. Downtown Bethlehem Association held the Bethlehem Fashion Show with clothes and accessories provided by participating downtown merchants. Despite the torrential downpour that tried to interrupt the show, the event was a great success. Also on Saturday, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley held their annual gala honoring one standout business serving the Latino Community as well as a Hispanic Professional of the Year. Also on Saturday, there was the official dedication of the Bangor Heritage Mural, funded in part by the Chamber's Main Street Lehigh Valley Foundation.
In local news, the presidential race in PA is still close according to a poll commissioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Obama leads by just 2 points. Easton's Riverside Festival of the Arts featured more than 60 artists and drew a large crowd to the city's Scott and Riverside Parks.
In national news, gas prices finally came to a halt after rising 43 cents nationally since mid-July.
This upcoming weekend, Allentown will be celebrating its 250th Anniversary this weekend. On Friday 9/28, there will be Hess's Hollywood on Hamilton, a celebration that includes a Red Carpet Restaurant Night with four city restaurants.On Saturday, the Point of Pride parade will highlight some of the key moments in this city's long and storied history.
