Hypocrisy, complacency or both?

That is the last paragraph from former Labour Leader of Bridgend Council Jeff Jones in a WalesOnline article today.

‘The real challenge facing Wales in the 21st century isn't to beat and out muscle a pretty poor English rugby team I'm afraid. Winning a rugby match doesn't change economic reality or the mountain we need to climb because of the failure of successive policy makers to produce a long term strategy for economic growth necessary to compete with the Singapore’s of this world.

It’s not that I disagree with the semtiments, but I do question whether this type of critical friend conversation took place within the Labour Party in Wales when Jeff and others who have left and are now openly critical, were member of the Party in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s when the Welsh economy was being battered from all sides.

If Jeff and others didn’t then the hypocrisy is incredible and if they did have those conversation and were ignored by the leadership then the level of complacency over economic matters and in taking the Welsh electorate for granted is unforgiveable given the high levels of unemployment and  pitiful state of the welsh economy.
