LAFD Makes a BALD Statement for the 10th Year in a Row

The men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department warmly welcome you to join them this Saturday in a local celebration of St. Baldrick's, where our sudden baldness brings hope to children with cancer.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

You won't want to miss this special 10th anniversary event. Enjoy a free IHOP pancake and sausage breakfast along with Starbucks coffee, all while being entertained by Magic Castle Magicians, face painters, celebrity guest barbers, and tunes by 93.1 JACK FM! LAFD and LAPD will have equipment and apparatus on display for tours and photo opportunities for the children, so bring the whole family! Join other good-hearted people, all gathering for a great cause.

Here's just one story that touches our hearts and brings the men and women in uniform back ten years straight.

For those of you who have not met Justin Miller, the Childhood Cancer Fighting Ninja, you’re missing out! He’s a true inspiration, and he’s only 9 years old. Justin has been fighting cancer for 2/3 of his life. He doesn’t remember life without it, and sadly last month Justin’s cancer came back for the 6th time.

A few months ago, while having dinner with his family, Justin, unprompted, came around the table and put his arms around a St. Baldrick member's neck, kissed her cheek and said, “Kathleen, please thank everyone in St. Baldrick’s for helping me be alive.”

We can help. It's as simple as showing up to this event to cheer-on others or register as a shavee. If you can't attend, you are welcome to donate online, or by telephone: 888-899-BALD.
