RSC4 Project Progresses to Rowena Avenue between Glendale Boulevard and West Silver Lake Drive in Silver Lake

Lane Reduction along Rowena Avenue Begins August 15

WHAT:

Construction on LADWP’s ongoing River Supply Conduit Improvement Lower Reach Unit 4 (RSC4) Project will move into a new work area, Rowena Avenue between Glendale Boulevard and West Silver Lake Drive, beginning August 15. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction along Rowena Avenue, and parking restrictions will be in place. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to take alternate routes. Informational signage will be posted along Glendale Boulevard and Rowena Avenue.

WHO:

The project is undertaken by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

WHEN:

August 15, 2012 through March 2013 (approximate.)

WHERE:

Rowena Avenue between Glendale Boulevard and West Silver Lake Drive in the Silver Lake Community of Los Angeles.

WHY:

The RSC4 project will replace an aging water trunk line built in the 1940s, which was experiencing leaks. The new trunk line, consisting of pipe between 48 and 96 inches in diameter and approximately two miles long, will improve the reliability and flexibility of LADWP’s water distribution system and is required for compliance with federally-mandated water quality regulations. Construction on RSC4 began in March 2010 and is expected to be completed in 2014. To date, approximately 8,000 feet of the new pipe have been installed.

NOTES:

Construction work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
