This Week with Friends of Atwater Elementary (FOA) - 9/29/2010

lovely planter boxes and dug in the rock-hard dirt beneath our garden-to-be. And now on to this week's news...

Thank you to everyone for coming to Friday’s Movie Night and to Acapulco! Funds raised will be used to enrich the classrooms and/or library for all students.

Reading Garden Update
Saturday was HOT in the Reading Garden but we still got those planter boxes built. Many thanks to all who participated!

Next Saturday (Oct 2) 1-4pm we will be working in the garden again. Please come with gloves, shovels and enthusiasn (we'll have extras of each) to help build our beautiful space. For questions or more information please either call 323-284-8802 or reply to this email.

4th-6th Grade New Books
With the help of First Book Bank and the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council, FOA is able to give 2 new books to every student in the 4th-6th grades.

Those books are Lexi and Christian the Lion. We will also be doing some Book Club activities involving these books on Tuesdays after school. Come and join us!

* For those students who are not in the 4th, 5th or 6th grades, we are exploring every opportunity to acquire books for you too. We will keep you posted.
