The Hollywood CRA PAC voted unanimously last night, January 18, 2011, for the CRA to follow the Governor's wishes and cease operations. Chair, John Walsh, called for a "Brown-Out" of the CRA - to stop the dangerous "brown-outs" of vital services. We urge and encourage other CRA PACs throughout the State to do the same.
News Update - as of January 18 at 10:30 am the LA City Attorney's Office Head Deputy of the Public Integrity Division Dave Demerjian has assigned Assistant Head Deputy Jennifer Snyder to review the Brown Act complaint on the Jan.14th CRA meeting, filed by Hollywood PAC member and CRA activist Bob Blue.
The Hollywood CRA PAC further calls for the elimination of the "special meetings" provision in the Brown Act. This action, the LA CRA and the LA City Council's collusion to attempt an illegal transfer of nearly $1 billion dollars in public money to shield it from use for public services, should become the poster child for getting rid of the constantly abused "special meeting" provision in the Brown Act. The "emergency meeting" provision is sufficient and has an appropriately high standard for qualification.
The Hollywood CRA PAC has been a leader in fighting CRA abuse for many years, dubbed "a sort feral neighborhood council" by the LA Times in 2004, the PAC counts among it's victories, saving the El Capitan Theater, Bob Blue Building, the Dunning House Apartments and stopping the Capitol Records Building giveaway.

CRA/LA is currently seeking to create a redevelopment project area in NELA. The so-called NELA River Redevelopment Project Area would cover most communities that lie along the eastside of the Los Angeles River, including significant sections of Atwater Village. To be able to create a redevelopment project area neighborhoods within it must be declared “blighted”, regardless of community input or actual conditions in the neighborhood.
