Another departure in Welsh Politics

Continuing the departures theme in welsh politics this week, BBC Wales Political Betsan Powys has announced rather cryptically on her BBC blog that she is moving to pastures new on the radio, perhaps she off to Radio Wales, Radio Cymru or one of the BBC's UK’s radio stations.

Bestan has been in post since September 2006, almost 7 years (doesn't time fly) and has been a solid if unspectacular presence in her time as Political Editor, not a criticism I expect the same from her successor given the close nature of politics and journalism in Wales.

As to whose next in the Political Editor’s hot seat, I don’t know but the Beeb’s Tomos Livingston or Carl Roberts could be possibilities or perhaps one of the Good Morning or Good Evening Wales presenters like Bethan Rhys Roberts or Felicity Evans might be in with a shout.

It could also be a Trinity Mirror or ITV Wales Journalist that would welcome the profile and security of BBC Wales or someone totally out of left field that no one has thought of, but it will be interesting to see who gets the nod.

UPDATE Thanks to an anonymous commentator who let me know Betsan Powys has been appointed the new controller of Radio Cymru - Good Luck to her in the new role!
