Daily Briefing, 6/28/2012

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

In local news, Easton City Council has officially introduced a measure that would add a .75% commuter tax to fund the city's unfunded pension liability.


In state-wide news, debate is set to begin on the Pennsylvania budget in the full House of Representatives.  


In national news, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected today to rule on the constitutionality of Obamacare.  The Mitt Romney campaign sought a retraction of a Washington Post story on the alleged practices of Bain Capital, Romney's former company; the Post yesterday said that they stand by their story.  The House of Representatives is set to vote today on holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for the Attorney General's refusal to turn over documents related to the Fast & Furious scandal.  Congressional leaders came to a compromise on two key issues: student loan interest rates and transportation programs.


We have two Chamber events today: a mixer at the Courtyard by Marriot and the Easton-Phillipsburg golf tournament.
