Public Policy Position: Supporting Our Downtowns

We have another Public Policy position to report; this one pertains to urban revitalization and economic redevelopment.

As you may know, this Chamber is very involved in urban revitalization, with staffers on almost every Main Street in the Valley.  As such, the Chamber is part of a group called Chambers for Sustainable Communities. In that capacity, our President & CEO, Tony Iannelli, signed the below letter in support of Senate Bill 1150.  This legislation would created $10 million in tax credits for economic development projects that occur in historic districts.  In other words, it provides another vital incentive needed to allow for economic redevelopment to occur in historic districts that are found in virtually all of our urban cores.

Economic redevelopment in urban areas often faces significant financial hurdles, and this legislation would help to create for an additional financial incentives to allow for that redevelopment.
