The fire was reported at 9:10 PM on September 13, 2012 at 1500 Forest Knoll Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Firefighters arrived quickly to find heavy flames in the rambling attic of the nearly 4500 square-foot hillside home.
Joined by one Los Angeles County Fire Department Engine Company and Battalion Chief responding from neighboring West Hollywood, 76 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel under the command of Battalion Chief Jeff Elder held the flames in check, confining the inferno to the attic and extinguishing the blaze in just 38 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Uninjured yet displaced by the greater alarm fire were two adults and two adolescents, who chose to seek their own temporary accommodation. Despite the ferocity of flames, loss from the fire was limited to $300,000 ($200,000 structure & $100,000 contents). The cause of the blaze was declared to be electrical in nature.
