“PARTYING” DAY LABORS CAUSE COMMOTION FOR THREE DAYS ON FLETCHER DRIVE IN ATWATER VILLAGE, AND THE PARTY CONTINUES…

A “festive” group of day labors have taken to “partying” virtually non-stop on the public right-of-way on Fletcher Drive in Atwater Village since Tuesday, March 17th. The festivities include music, both via a boom-box and guitars with live vocals, and plenty of alcohol. The alcohol is believed to be purchased at Ray’s Liquor store (2730 Fletcher Dr).

The impromptu party has at times been located on the sidewalk or parking lot of either Fosters Freeze (2670 Fletcher Dr) or Ray’s Liquor. The daily festivities start in the early morning around 8am and continue throughout the day until about 6pm.

On three separate occasions the party has briefly stopped when one of the partiers, a Hispanic male in his early 50’s or late 40’s, becomes so intoxicated that he calls 911 for medical assistance.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday both the Los Angeles Fire and Police Departments has responded to  911 calls initiated by this inebriated partier.  On all three occasions the visibly intoxicated male was treated by LAFD paramedics and briefly detained by LAPD officers before he was left on Fletcher Drive to continue with his revelry.

On Friday, March 19, 2010 the "party" has continued unabated with the all the same individuals.
