ATWATER VILLAGE BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVE CANDIDATE, LISA ROBEY, TO CLOSE SHOP AND LOOSE ELIGIBILITY TO RUN FOR UPCOMING NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL ELECTION

Atwater Village business owner, Lisa Robey, announced yesterday that she will be closing her garment store Violet Willow located at 3127 Glendale Blvd. Robey cited difficulties in negotiating new lease terms with her landlord as the reason for closing her store. It is expected that she will relocate her store outside of Atwater Village.

Robey is currently a candidate for the upcoming Atwater Village Neighborhood Council (AVNC) Election slated for March 20th, 2010. She is the only candidate running for the Business Representative position, there are two positions available.

According to AVNC Election Procedures to qualify for the Business Representative position the candidate has to live, work, own property or declare a stake in the Neighborhood Council and affirm a factual basis for it. With Robey’s business closing and without any other stake in Atwater Village it seems unlikely that she would continue to qualify for the position.

Robey has not announced her withdrawal from the AVNC Election.
